Mind Control Language is an Art

Mind control language is quite tricky. There is an art to being able to say the same
phrase and make it able to connote different things. Try repeatedly saying the
phrase “Will you eat that?” while putting the stress on a different word each time.
And there is an art of being able to frame your words in such a way that it seems
that the only logical way to go is to agree. When you want to coerce people into
thinking along the same lines as you do, one has to properly put matters such that
there seems to be no better way out but to agree.
The first of these kinds of phrasing is the all-or-nothing line. It was greatly
popularized by Former President Bush’s slogan “It’s either your one of us or
against us” though the theme is already present even in earlier times. For instance
the poem, The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost talks about two different paths
when you decide to take one, this immediately connotes the rejection of the other.
A discerning audience would see the error in this manner of putting things
primarily because of the presence of the gray area or the neutral side of everything.
The all-or-nothing phrasing of conditions is precisely covering up the existence of
these sides. This is because the human mind is trained to decide only based upon
the options presented in front of him. It is not trained to seek more choices. It is
only recently that multiple choice tests included the option of the answer being
“none of the above”.
The second kind of mind control language is phrasing a better-or-worse scenario.
The syntax would often be first stating the status quo or current status and then
stating your offer which is better than the current one so that you can get the
person to accept your proposition. For instance, “You can stay lost and driving in
circles the whole day or you can swallow your pride and ask for directions.” The
other syntax would be to state the status quo and paint a worse picture to make the
people think that they are not in such a bad situation. Such a phrase would be
telling your parents “A C+ is not so bad. At least I did not cheat.”
Aside from phrasing, another art involved in mind control is the manner you say
things. It is much like how a child knows that his mom is already about to lose her
temper or if she was just giving him a reminder even if the mother says the exact
same thing. As rule, certain intonations carry a meaning with them. A flat tone
connotes a statement of a fact. A downward tone would sound like a person is
giving an order. Why this is the case cannot be historically traced however
psychologically, it is explained that we have been conditioned to recognize mind
control language since we have been continuously exposed to it through-out our
lifetime.
