THE INDIAN WIRELESS OPPORTUNITY 1/5 One of the fastest growing markets in the world  Fastest growing mobile services market – second largest in the  world: More than 27 million new subscribers added in first 2 months of 2009  Soon the largest mobile handset market: already the second largest market for global market leader Nokia  3G launch in 2009: state operators have launched 3G, more momentum after spectrum is awarded to private operators in the next few months  Mobile broadband opportunities: Mobile Internet usage growing Enormous market potential  Large sections of the population still underserved : telecom  penetration still around 36%  Per capita telecom use one of the lowest: despite tremendous growth India still ranks low on global telecom development index

THE INDIAN WIRELESS OPPORTUNITY 3/5 India’s moving beyond voice, mobile Internet is  fast gaining ground One of the top 3 countries in the world in generating mobile  data traffic– according to data from mobile web analytics firm Bango, India accounted for 11.1% of the worldwide mobile web browsing traffic in February. Bango's January 2009 data also showed India among the top three after the UK and the USA in mobile web browsing  Mobile Web usage in India surged ahead 167 percent in January 2009 compared to the same month of 2008, according to a recent report published by Opera  Close to 90 million mobile subscribers have Internet- capable mobile phones

THE INDIAN WIRELESS OPPORTUNITY 4/5 Indian operators will be next only to China in  Capex spending in 2009 Estimates based on announcements by operators show they will  spend close to US$ 30 billion in expanding / upgrading networks in 2009 / this expenditure does not include 3G related spending  BSNL will Spend US$ 8 billion  Government expected to spend close to US$ 2 billion from Universal Service Obligations Fund
