    • JOHN HUSS • A CZECH PRIEST • HEAD OF THE UNIVERSITY OF PRAGUE IN BOHEMIA • HE CHALLENGED THE AUTHORITY OF THE POPE AND CRITICIZED THE CHURCH’S WEALTH • HIS FOLLOWERS WERE CALLED HUSSITES • HE WAS ARRESTED, FOUND GUILTY OF HERESY, AND BURNED AT THE STAKE IN 1415.
    • MARTIN LUTHER (1438- 1546) • GERMAN MONK WHO TAUGHT BIBLICAL STUDIES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WITTENBERG • HE BELIEVED THAT, WHILE A TRUE CHRISTIAN WOULD PERFORM GOOD WORKS, THESE DID NOT BRING SALVATION.CHRISTIANS COULD ONLY BE SAVED BY THE GRACE OF GOD, WHICH WOULD GRANT THEM FAITH IN CHRIST.
