    • One form of analtered state ofconsciousness iswhen an individualdoes drugs. Oneexample of drugsthat alter ourconsciousness ismarijuana.
    • WHAT IS MARIJUANA? Marijuana is made from the plant called cannabis. The plant contains an active ingredient called tetrahydrocannabinol or THC which is what causes the actual high. Marijuana is usually smoked like a cigarette or in a pipe. Marijuana affects such areas of the brain associated with pleasure, memory, concentration, and even time perception. Marijuana’s effects on the individual depends on the strength and potency of the THC it contains.

    • WITHDRAWALS FROM MARIJUANA • Hyperactivity • Insomnia • Decreased appetite • Anxiety
    • RISKS OF USING MARIJUANA• Panic attacks• Paranoia• Fatigue• Bizarre and dangerous behavior• Decreased testosterone over long- term use• Immune system can be affected and cannot fight off germs properly• Increases stress on the heart• Damages lungs• Cause behavioral effects on children who are exposed prenatally
    • Although marijuana hasnegative affects and can alterour state of consciousness itcan also have some medicalbenefits. It can help withnausea, spasms in spinal cord,and help with AIDS.
