Editor's Notes
I am 36 years old and live in Kaunas.
Currently I am a Head of R&D Department in an orthopaedic company in Lithuania. I take part in the management of the company, suggest projects and manage them. I like technologies and generally work with plastics and carbon fiber composites technology.
Currently I am a Head of R&D Department in an orthopaedic company in Lithuania. I take part in the management of the company, suggest projects and manage them. During the past year and a half with the company, I have developed a centralized personalized prepreg ortheses production technology and manufacturing procedures. Together with the production department I have developed effective CAD modeling methods for individual orthoses and shoelasts. Along with the national laser professionals we have elaborated 3D scanning technologies and have developed qualitatively and functionally different scanner. Together with the University of Technology we are working on the design of classification and recognition systems for 3D objects.
I live in Kaunas with my gilrfriend Viktorija, I like to travel, My free time I like spend active. All my holiday I try to spend on bicycle.
In 1253, July 6th, the Great Duke Mindaugas, who united Lithuania, was crowned and became the first and the last King of Lithuania. Before the event he was baptised, but later he again became pagan.
After adoption of Christianity Lithuania became powerful country. It had very close relationship with Poland. Eventually, after 400 years Polish-Lithuanian union collapsed and Lithuania became part of tsarist Russia. It lasted until the World War I.
After World War I, on the 16th of February, Lithuania declares its independence for the first time. It lasts more than 20 years.
During the World War II Russia, later Germany, and then again Russia were the occupants, but the last occupation by Russia lasted 45 years until 1990.
“Sajudis” was the beginning of the independence movement – it united the nation and began the fight for independent Lithuania.
Since 1997 Lithuania (together with Latvia) and Taiwan cooperate in science development field introducing scientific exchange programmes.
This year Vilnius is European capital of culture. This major cultural event is related to the celebrations of Millennium of Lithuania. Main cultural events of the year are connected with historical dates and religious holidays – such as Christmas Eve, Christmas, Easter, and Independence Day. I also would like to notice that Vilnius is included in UNESCO World Heritage list.
The latter painters are known as contemporary art representatives.
One of such places is Pazaislis monastery where works our team leader Egidijus.
During these festivals gather all Lithuanians from all over the world.
Amber and oak are often used in folk art.
