  • 1. Unusual School UniformsEton CollegeEton College is a public school for boys, foundedin 1440 by Henry VI. It is located near Windsor,England and houses approximately 1,300 boysbetween the ages of 13 and 18. The school is famousfor the traditions it maintains, including a uniform ofa black tailcoat (or morning coat) and waistcoat, false -collar and pinstriped trousers. All studentswear a white tie. Teachers are also required to wear aform of uniform when teaching.Christs Hospital SchoolChrists Hospital School was founded in 1552 whenthe City of London cared for fatherless and poorchildren. The citizens of London generously providednew clothes which were in accord with Tudor style. The early uniform consisted of an outer long bluecoat which has remained virtually unchanged for 450years. Blue was a favoured colour for charity schoolchildren because it was the cheapest available dye forclothing.Today, the outer blue coat and yellow socks are stillworn by the students because they have voted tocontinue wearing the traditional school uniform.
