Adding & subtracting Fractions with Different Denominators By MM
3/4 + 2/3 What you have to do to get the answer is to, find a common denominator that 4 and 3 goes into, which is 12. Then, once you have the common denominator, you multiply the denominator and he numerator by the same number for both fractions.
9/12 + 8/12 Once you figured out the answer, you should come up with 9/12 and 8/12. Both the fractions on the second and third Slide are the same, but you just converted them into different fractions.
1/2 – 2/6 Subtraction is the opposite of addition. So what you have to do it find a common denominator that 6 and 2 go into, which is 6. Then once you got the common denominator, you multiply the denominator (bottom) and the numerator (top) by the same number.
3/6 - 2/6 Once you went through all those steps on slide 4, you then get the answer of 3/6 and 2/6. Those are your answers.
