  9. 9. Married Caroline Balastier, the sister of an American writer, in 1892
  10. 10. While on honeymoon, his bank failed and their only possession was their travel tickets which only took them as far as Vermont
  11. 11. They resided in the United States for 4 years while he wrote The Jungle Book and the Second Jungle Book</li></li></ul><li>His Maturing Years<br /><ul><li>Finally returned to England in 1897 where he continued to write poetry and books
  12. 12. Was at his greatest popularity in the early 1900’s
  13. 13. Received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1907
  14. 14. Lost his son during World War I at the Battle of Loos
  15. 15. In 1922 was asked by the University of Toronto to assist in developing a ceremony for the graduating engineering students which is still in use across Canada
  16. 16. In life was known for his poetry, but after his death is mostly known for his children’s books
  17. 17.
