A Revolutionary new mobile app enabling you to create your own music wherever you are!
MyStudio is an amazing new music
creation app on the market for people who
want to make their own music without
spending years and thousands of pounds
on a composing course. It can be used
literally anytime and anywhere. At night in
bed, On the bus in the morning, really
whenever and wherever you like.
For the many years since the smartphone
came out, there has been no easy to use
and affordable music creation app. When
people are out and about they are unable
to create their own tunes. We, as
MyStudio, have set out to solve this
problem.
There is one main question our group is
trying to answer:
“Can I easily compose
my own music tracks
on the go?”
Sometimes, we have been searching for
new music to get, and there was just
nothing we could find that we liked at the
time. We thought what if we could make
our own music? There are no reasonably
priced and easy to use music creation
apps on the market, and so we decided
with our app we would make it so that
people need no experience composing to
create decent music that they like.
We are Developing a mobile app to help
music fanatics compose their own,
personalised music in a creative new way
without needing any previous composing
experience and being able to act as if
they are a professional conductor.
Collin is someone who has experienced
the wireframe of our app. He always
listens to music and was thinking about
making his own music when we showed
him the app. He took a look round the app
and generally liked the idea. As he does
not have much time to use apps everyday
he likes the quick interface meaning he
can get started straightaway when he
opens the app. He also loves the ability to
save your music as MP3 files.
There is only one app we have found on all app
Markets that users can use to make their own
music. That is Garageband and is only available
on the IOS app store. Our app is easier to use
than Garageband and will be much cheaper than
Garageband’s extortionate price. Furthermore,
our app will be the only of its kind on the app
store.
One of the key features of our app is the
ability for the user to move their finger on
the screen to make lines and shapes which
the app converts into musical notation.
When asked what they thought about the
feature, a music enthusiast commented:
“I like the idea of being able to swipe my
finger on the screen and have it become
music. I would love to let my creative
juices flow while using this app.”
We decided to make this the key feature of
our app due to the positive feedback and
the fact that nothing like this feature exists
in any app in the market.
Someone who looked at the base
wireframe of our app commented:
“You should include a wider range of
genres to appeal to a large target audience.
Also you need to put emphasis on the fact
that your app doesn’t revolve around
classic music.”
Therefore, we have chosen to change the
genres of instruments available to appeal
to a larger target audience.
Our app is designed to flow well from page
to page. We will make the app have menus
that rise up the page and screens that you
can swipe back and forth from.
These are the front and main pages of
our app. You slide the front page away
to reveal the main page. The main page
contains the ability to go to the rest of
the features of the app.
These are the instrument pages. Here
you chose the genre of instrument you
want to use and then choose the exact
instrument you want to use.
These are the recording page and top
ten. On the recording page you swipe
your finger to create the music and on
the top ten you can see great music
other people have made.
Our app seems fairly feasible. The most
difficult feature to integrate would be the
ability to swipe your finger and have it
converted to music. With he help of shape
recognition software we would be able to do
this. The content of our app is purely
dictated by the user and so would be perfect
for each and every user. Once again, the
ability to swipe your finger and turn it into
music would be a difficulty when looking at
technical feasibility, but it is possible.
Our App has been designed so that it
would be free with possible banner adverts
at the top or bottom of the screen for
advertisement revenue. We would then
offer the removal of adverts and the
addition of extra instruments to the app for
a small price per DLC (e.g. 99p for rock
instruments pack). This way we would be
able to bait a large range of customers
with the fact that the app is free and have
them pay to expand their ability to use the
app.
Our main marketing tactic to reach our
specific users is to discuss and promote
the app on music forums and sites with
the added bonus of things like promo
codes for 50% off specific in-app
purchases. Considering the wide scope of
the internet this should largely increase
our user base.
Our group has spent ours refining our
Balsamiq mockup. We have tweaked the
graphics and the colours to make it look
as good as we could possible make it.
We have also met and presented our app
idea to developers from Monitise Create, a
highly renowned app development agency.
They gave us tips and suggestions on how
to improve our app and we have
implemented that in our designs.
Finally, we researched how important first
impressions are and we have decided to
make the user’s first impression of the app
the best it can possibly be.

9.5 Group 3

  • 1. Nathan Michael, Jayanth Ramesh, Affan Rashid, Tayyab Siddiqui & Nicholas Veerapen A Revolutionary new mobile app enabling you to create your own music wherever you are!
  • 2. MyStudio is an amazing new music creation app on the market for people who want to make their own music without spending years and thousands of pounds on a composing course. It can be used literally anytime and anywhere. At night in bed, On the bus in the morning, really whenever and wherever you like.
  • 3. For the many years since the smartphone came out, there has been no easy to use and affordable music creation app. When people are out and about they are unable to create their own tunes. We, as MyStudio, have set out to solve this problem.
  • 4. There is one main question our group is trying to answer: “Can I easily compose my own music tracks on the go?”
  • 5. Sometimes, we have been searching for new music to get, and there was just nothing we could find that we liked at the time. We thought what if we could make our own music? There are no reasonably priced and easy to use music creation apps on the market, and so we decided with our app we would make it so that people need no experience composing to create decent music that they like.
  • 6. We are Developing a mobile app to help music fanatics compose their own, personalised music in a creative new way without needing any previous composing experience and being able to act as if they are a professional conductor.
  • 7. Collin is someone who has experienced the wireframe of our app. He always listens to music and was thinking about making his own music when we showed him the app. He took a look round the app and generally liked the idea. As he does not have much time to use apps everyday he likes the quick interface meaning he can get started straightaway when he opens the app. He also loves the ability to save your music as MP3 files.
  • 8. There is only one app we have found on all app Markets that users can use to make their own music. That is Garageband and is only available on the IOS app store. Our app is easier to use than Garageband and will be much cheaper than Garageband’s extortionate price. Furthermore, our app will be the only of its kind on the app store.
  • 9. One of the key features of our app is the ability for the user to move their finger on the screen to make lines and shapes which the app converts into musical notation. When asked what they thought about the feature, a music enthusiast commented: “I like the idea of being able to swipe my finger on the screen and have it become music. I would love to let my creative juices flow while using this app.” We decided to make this the key feature of our app due to the positive feedback and the fact that nothing like this feature exists in any app in the market.
  • 10. Someone who looked at the base wireframe of our app commented: “You should include a wider range of genres to appeal to a large target audience. Also you need to put emphasis on the fact that your app doesn’t revolve around classic music.” Therefore, we have chosen to change the genres of instruments available to appeal to a larger target audience. Our app is designed to flow well from page to page. We will make the app have menus that rise up the page and screens that you can swipe back and forth from.
  • 11. These are the front and main pages of our app. You slide the front page away to reveal the main page. The main page contains the ability to go to the rest of the features of the app.
  • 12. These are the instrument pages. Here you chose the genre of instrument you want to use and then choose the exact instrument you want to use.
  • 13. These are the recording page and top ten. On the recording page you swipe your finger to create the music and on the top ten you can see great music other people have made.
  • 14. Our app seems fairly feasible. The most difficult feature to integrate would be the ability to swipe your finger and have it converted to music. With he help of shape recognition software we would be able to do this. The content of our app is purely dictated by the user and so would be perfect for each and every user. Once again, the ability to swipe your finger and turn it into music would be a difficulty when looking at technical feasibility, but it is possible.
  • 15. Our App has been designed so that it would be free with possible banner adverts at the top or bottom of the screen for advertisement revenue. We would then offer the removal of adverts and the addition of extra instruments to the app for a small price per DLC (e.g. 99p for rock instruments pack). This way we would be able to bait a large range of customers with the fact that the app is free and have them pay to expand their ability to use the app.
  • 16. Our main marketing tactic to reach our specific users is to discuss and promote the app on music forums and sites with the added bonus of things like promo codes for 50% off specific in-app purchases. Considering the wide scope of the internet this should largely increase our user base.
  • 17. Our group has spent ours refining our Balsamiq mockup. We have tweaked the graphics and the colours to make it look as good as we could possible make it. We have also met and presented our app idea to developers from Monitise Create, a highly renowned app development agency. They gave us tips and suggestions on how to improve our app and we have implemented that in our designs. Finally, we researched how important first impressions are and we have decided to make the user’s first impression of the app the best it can possibly be.
