Iaşi is the main urban center in north-eastern Romania. Iaşi was the capitalof Moldavia during 1564 - 1859, one of the two capitals of the UnitedPrincipalities between 1859 and 1862 and the capital of Romania between1916-1918.Iasi is the cultural, economic and academic center of Moldavia.
