Google WaveI should mention there are now tons of Google Wave invites available - people in the second round have them and people they invite have them - so the info about the 2nd round no longer applies. Google also says they have issued invites to everyone who requested through their website.1 week ago

Journey into Web 2.0I like the concept on slide 13 that libraries need to make their services available in their users’ information environments.2 years ago

Web 2.0 timeline and future@ostephens You make a good point. Laptops at conferences requires a convergence of technology, funding, and culture. I didn’t have time to cover it in my (already overlong) talk, but 802.11b is only at 1999 on the timeline http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/802.11b and it was several years after that before laptops had wireless AND venues had wireless. Cost and cultural reasons also constrained the use of laptops. In 2004 I think we were still a ways from "auditorium full of Mac laptops" http://www.osirra.com/resserver.php?blogId=1&resource=how%20do%20you%20like%20them%20apples.jpg2 years ago

Trends in online publishingI don’t think the issue is time between interruptions, it’s INTRUSIVENESS. Using that as a measurement, phones in general are way more intrusive than web information, which you can browse at leisure.2 years ago

Does metadata matter?I think this is a key slide for the presentation - you need metadata where machines can’t do a good job of deriving a self-description (and a ranking)2 years ago
