Atoms of different elements like sodium (reactive group I metal) and chlorine (reactive group VII non metal gas) are all made from three identical sub atomic particles. We can use the atomic number and mass number to build a complete picture of an atom. The atomic number of an atom tells us the number of protons found in element’s nucleus.
