  • Dr Samuel Aylward Dr Samuel Aylward commented on Sound & Hearing Ear protectors are made from materials that absorb, dissipate and prevent the energy that sound waves carry. from reaching the middle and inner ear. This energy un-stopped can damage the delicate hair like structures that detect both the pitch and volume of sound in the cochlea. Over time if ears are not protected cumulative damage can lead to substantial hearing loss. 7 months ago
  • Dr Samuel Aylward Dr Samuel Aylward commented on Crude Oil And Its Products Polythene is an extremely useful polymer and I imagine when crude oil runs out they will find an alterntive source of ethene molecules perhaps from longer hydrocarbons sourced from coal after cracking them. Yes polythene will be more expensive when crude oil runs out but imagine a polythene free world...scary what would supermarkets do for a start 9 months ago
  • Dr Samuel Aylward Dr Samuel Aylward commented on KS 3 How electricity transfers energy The UK government and The European Union is right to ban the sale of normal tungsten filament light bulbs from 2011. Most of the heat produced by these items is unwanted in most houses and therfore ’lost’ to the surroundings, the effect being most dramtic when outside tempeartures are anything above 15oC, which in sunny England is a least half of the year. Not often is our government right but on this one well ’blue sky thinking all round...now just be honest about your expenses and and the public would view you as a reasonable lot !!!! 2 years ago
