Columbine <ul><li>The columbine is white and lavender blue. </li></ul><ul><li>It was chosen as our state flower because it represents the blue skies, the white snow, and the yellow gold found in our state. </li></ul><ul><li>We have laws to protect our flower. </li></ul><ul><li>The columbine was chosen on April 4, 1899. </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><ul><ul><ul><ul><li>State Seal </li></ul></ul></ul></ul></ul><ul><li>The one who designed the state seal was Lewis Ledyard Weld. </li></ul><ul><li>Abraham Lincoln chose Lewis Ledyard to be the Terriotorial Secretary of Colorado July 1861. </li></ul><ul><li>Some say the territorial Governor also helped designed the state seal. </li></ul>

Bird <ul><li>The Lark Bunting is our state bird. </li></ul><ul><li>The male is black with white patches and white edges on his wings and tail. </li></ul><ul><li>The female is gray brown on top and white on her tummy. </li></ul><ul><li>The male is 7 inches long.The female is a little smaller. </li></ul>
