  • My story – I left Sun in January 2009 but had been preparing for a change for at least several months before my actual notification date. I used several of these tips myself during my transition, but I was also surprised to see how much adjustment I went through during this process.
  • No matter how well-prepared we might feel for change, it is still often overwhelming. My aim for this presentation is to give you some practical tips not only for “operationally” transitioning, but also for helping you as you go through transitions in your career and life.
  • Katy Dickinson provides many of these tips for Sun employees in her excellent blog entry, referenced at the end of this slide set.

  • Change is a paradox and a challenge in establishing our own inner balance.
  • Ultimately, we only control ourselves, our actions our thoughts, our reactions, our perspective.
  • Skills for resume, or for recreating what I want to do
  • This is a non-denominational exercise, drawn from Solution-Focused Therapy
  • If the plan is in your head, there is no plan.
  • Training options: Webinars, workshops, etc. Set weekly goals for yourself, set up an accountability group with colleagues
