    • UN Openly opposed Death Penalty
    • 1997 Commission on Human Rights - abolished penalty may one day be imposed
      • Dec. 18, 2008 UN General Assembly adopted 2nd resolution for Moratorium on Death Penalty - 106 states voted in favour.
    • February 1, 2011: UN calls on Iran to declare moratorium on Death Penalty
