Draw and interpret boxplots

Box and whisker diagrams
A box and whisker diagram (sometimes called a boxplot) is another way of displaying the same data that we find on a cumulative frequency curve.
To draw a box and whisker diagram you need the following information:
lowest value
lower quartile
median
upper quartile
highest value

Example
The midday temperature (in °C) for 11 cities around the world are:
13 12 5 34 8 10 11 4625 23 36
Draw a boxplot to illustrate this data.

First, put the data into order and then locate the median, LQ and UQ

Boxplots can be used to compare data
These sets of data have the same median value.
But the second group is much more spread out.
