Midweek Prayer Service 021611 Midweek Prayer Service 021611 Presentation Transcript

  • SBCC Midweek Prayer Service Prayer Focus: National and World Concerns
    • The Department of Justice (DOJ) is ready to build a strong case against those involved in corruption in the military to ensure their successful prosecution. Special team (Clearinghouse) will be created to gather evidence other than those presented by Rabusa, Mendoza and Lim and to dig deeper into the issue. It will be composed of a select group of state prosecutors and counsels, along with consultants that include former prosecutors, to help in the case buildup.
    • Please pray for wisdom and guidance for DOJ as they create this special team. Ask God for courage for these people to stand up against corruption. Pray that God will raise godly men and women in the military who are living and serving righteously for the Lord.
    • The Senate has passed two bills amending the Family Code, one of which would allow a divorced Filipino to automatically remarry. With a vote of 13-0, the Senate passed Senate bills No. 1052 and 480, amending Articles 26 and 111 of Executive Order No. 209 or the Family Code of the Philippines respectively.
    • Please pray for our legislators. As they continue to pass bills to become laws, may they always uphold the precepts of the Bible in all of these. Ask the Lord to touch His people in this sector to stand firm and fight for the moral of our nation.
    • MMDA teams up with DOST on garbage disposal as they look into a locally-developed enzyme technology to break down harmful chemicals in garbage discarded on a daily basis by the metropolis’ more than 12 million residents. DOST is studying the use of chemical-waste absorbing plants and organism in cleaning up Metro Manila’s waterways, especially the Pasig River.
    • Praise the Lord for partnering efforts like this to ensure the restoration of our environment! Pray that God’s people will be more aware of their mandate as stewards of God’s creation and help in protecting and restoring what we are blessed with. Pray that all of SBCC will be stewards of God’s creation and take part in caring for the environment.
    • The UN Security Council called Monday for a "permanent ceasefire" between Thailand and Cambodia after a border dispute erupted into deadly clashes last week around a Hindu temple. The council made had a closed door session with the foreign ministers of Cambodia, Thailand and Indonesia, which has attempted to mediate the conflict.
    • They are fighting over a border area that surrounds the Preah Vihear temple, an 11th century cliff-top ruin that belongs to Cambodia but whose designation as a World Heritage site touched off the ire of Thai nationalists.
    • Pray for the success of peace talks between these countries. Ask God’s grace to grant peace for these Buddhist nations. Pray that He will touch these nations to be responsive to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and may His people in these places be more passionate in sharing the Good News.
    • A Muslim mob in Temanggung, Indonesia, attacked three churches last week after a Christian convicted of blasphemy was issued a sentence they thought was too lenient. Protesters burst into the courtroom on Tuesday, Feb. 8, immediately after Antonius Bawengan was given a 5-year prison sentence for distributing evangelical tracts in the area last October.
    • Outside the courthouse, a mob of 1,500 shouted that Bawengan should receive the death sentence or be handed over to the public, according to an AFP news report citing Central Java province police spokesperson Djihartono. The rioters threw stones at police and chanted, “kill, kill” as they broke windows in the courthouse and set vehicles on fire.
    • The mob then turned their anger on churches in the area. Indonesia Bethel Church, two kilometers from the courthouse, was badly burned. The fire damaged part of a kindergarten on the property as well as six motorbikes. Temanggung Pentecost Church was also burned by the mob, who chanted, “Burn, burn!” A pastor of one of these churches, was badly-beaten.
    • "I will stop Christianity in this country," said Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in 2007. Around the world, presidents, state officials, police, religious warriors, radicals, terrorists and even ordinary citizens are trying to stop the spread of the Christian faith.
    • In general, let’s pray for the persecuted churches around the world.
    • MEN’S ENCOUNTER on Feb. 18-19, 2011
      • Pray that God will make his presence felt during this 2-day event to each and every one at the Encounter.
      • Ask for the Holy Spirit to empower and enable all the speakers and the guides.
    • MEN’S ENCOUNTER on Feb. 18-19, 2011
      • Pray for the delegates to have willing and child-like minds and hearts to receive the Lord’s message for them.
      • Rebuke any plans that the enemy will try to place on these men to hinder them from attending the Encounter.
    • MEN’S ENCOUNTER on Feb. 18-19, 2011
      • Pray for blessings and provision for the delegates.
      • Intercede for the speakers and guides to be covered by the Lord’s protection and ask for wisdom, leading and inspiration for every one of them.
