Mastery of Language Arts/English <ul><li>Global Awareness: </li></ul><ul><li>  </li></ul><ul><li>- Students will work with other students who represent other cultures, religions, and lifestyles. </li></ul><ul><li>- Students will further their knowledge about other nationalities and cultures in a respectful learning environment. </li></ul><ul><li>- Students will learn difference in theme from culture to culture. </li></ul>

Learning and Innovation Skills <ul><li>  </li></ul><ul><li>- Students will learn a variety of techniques to improve their writing and convey their thoughts effectively. </li></ul><ul><li>- Students will be expected to work in groups/partnerships. </li></ul><ul><li>- Analyze information and draw from it the best conclusion. </li></ul><ul><li>- COMMUNICATE! </li></ul>

Information, Media, and Technology Skills <ul><li>- Students will learn to access information via research of databases. </li></ul><ul><li>- Decipher between credible sources and uncredible sources.  (Wikipedia is NOT allowed to be used unless previous permission is given.) </li></ul><ul><li>- Use blogging and BlackBoard in order to take our learning to the next level. </li></ul><ul><li>- Word processing and Powerpoint Presentations will be used throughout this course. </li></ul>

Life and Career Skills <ul><li>- THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE AND EXPECTATION OF MY CLASSROOM IS RESPECT.  </li></ul><ul><li>- Students will be able to work independently. </li></ul><ul><li>- Provide constructive feedback to their peers in an effective, respectful manner. </li></ul><ul><li>- Students will be expected to meet ALL deadlines. </li></ul><ul><li>- Students will be constantly reminded to listen to all and remain open-minded..  </li></ul><ul><li>- Students will be encouraged to act as leaders. </li></ul><ul><li>- Accept constructive criticism and positive feedback. </li></ul>
  7. 7. Student Assignment <ul><li>The following is an example of a large student assignment that will incorporate all the skills discussed: </li></ul><ul><li>1. A text will be democratically selected by students for everyone to read. </li></ul><ul><li>2. As students read, they will be expected to blog bi-weekly about discovered themes, critical questions, and evidence to opinions. </li></ul><ul><li>3. After completion of reading, students will create a thesis statement-it must creative, argumentative, and include evidence. </li></ul><ul><li>4. Students will send the next few class periods writing drafts and in writing workshops with peers. </li></ul><ul><li>5. Students will create a short Powerpoint Presentation of what their paper is about and their thought process. </li></ul>
