  • 3. Mastery of Language Arts/English
    • Global Awareness:

    • - Students will work with other students who represent other cultures, religions, and lifestyles.
    • - Students will further their knowledge about other nationalities and cultures in a respectful learning environment.
    • - Students will learn difference in theme from culture to culture.
  • 4. Learning and Innovation Skills
    •  
    • - Students will learn a variety of techniques to improve their writing and convey their thoughts effectively.
    • - Students will be expected to work in groups/partnerships.
    • - Analyze information and draw from it the best conclusion.
    • - COMMUNICATE!
  • 5. Information, Media, and Technology Skills
    • - Students will learn to access information via research of databases.
    • - Decipher between credible sources and uncredible sources.  (Wikipedia is NOT allowed to be used unless previous permission is given.)
    • - Use blogging and BlackBoard in order to take our learning to the next level.
    • - Word processing and Powerpoint Presentations will be used throughout this course.
  • 6. Life and Career Skills
    • - THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE AND EXPECTATION OF MY CLASSROOM IS RESPECT. 
    • - Students will be able to work independently.
    • - Provide constructive feedback to their peers in an effective, respectful manner.
    • - Students will be expected to meet ALL deadlines.
    • - Students will be constantly reminded to listen to all and remain open-minded.. 
    • - Students will be encouraged to act as leaders.
    • - Accept constructive criticism and positive feedback.
  • 7. Student Assignment
    • The following is an example of a large student assignment that will incorporate all the skills discussed:
    • 1. A text will be democratically selected by students for everyone to read.
    • 2. As students read, they will be expected to blog bi-weekly about discovered themes, critical questions, and evidence to opinions.
    • 3. After completion of reading, students will create a thesis statement-it must creative, argumentative, and include evidence.
    • 4. Students will send the next few class periods writing drafts and in writing workshops with peers.
    • 5. Students will create a short Powerpoint Presentation of what their paper is about and their thought process.
