    • NEARR is a non-profit, 501c(3) charitable, all-volunteer group that re-homes retrievers in the

    • NEARR does not have a shelter, instead all of our dogs live in foster care while awaiting a new forever home.

    • WHERE DO NEARR DOGS COME FROM?
    Surrendered by their owners or by local shelters and humane societies.
  • 12. North East All Retriever Rescue Our dogs spend at least 2 weeks in foster care for personality assessment before being available for adoption.

    • Most rescue dogs
    • need some extra TLC.
    • They need training,
    • socialization and structure.
  • 14. North East All Retriever Rescue The most common breed is Labrador retriever. The most common color is black. Most rescued retrievers are male.

    • The first few hours, days, weeks and in some cases, months, can be difficult with a rescued retriever.

    • But, with the right care, and with NEARR’s post-adoption support, these dogs blossom into unbelievable pets!

    • VERMONT : Bennington, Rutland, Windham, Windsor counties only
    • MAINE : York & Cumberland counties only
    • RHODE ISLAND : All counties excluding Block Island
    • CONNECTICUT : Hartford, Windham, New London, and Tolland counties only

    • Start by completing the online adoption application at www.nearr.com.
    • After completing the application, a phone screener will contact you for a telephone interview.

    • Our adoption coordinator will contact you when a potential match become available.
  • 22. North East All Retriever Rescue
    • After meeting the dog, a home check is conducted and references are checked.

    • If the NEARR Board approves your adoption, you are then a proud parent of a NEARR rescued retriever!

    • The adoption process can take anywhere from two weeks to six months to complete.
    • A dog with potential to fit in should never be disregarded because of size, gender, or appearance.
