THE YEARNING FOR HEROES Dexter: a hero that kills Prison Break: a hero that saves his brother House: an arrogant hero Lost: heroes that fight against their pain and suffering Heroes: heroes discovering more about themselves heroes with crises and secrets heroes with special powers

THE SEARCH FOR HEROES  We seek heroes because we are in crisis.  We seek heroes because we yearn for references.  We seek heroes because we conquer things, but we still empty.  We seek heroes because we want something more with our life.  We seek heroes because we’re destroying ourselves. Examples: marriages, families, nations, societies, planet  We seek heroes because we need to be saved.
  4. 4. An Existential MatterAn existential matter lead us up to: 1. Search for identity “What I am is more important than what I do.” 2. Search for power “How what I can do defines what I am?” 3. Search for purpose “How what I am defines what I do?”
  5. 5. An Existential MatterIntroduction “Where does it come from? This quest... this need to solve lifes mysteries for the simplest of questions can never be answered. Why are we here? What is the soul? Why do we dream? Perhaps we would be better off not looking at all. Not delving, not yearning. Thats not human nature, not the human heart. That is not why we are here.” There is a existential matter in us
  6. 6. An Existential MatterConclusion “This quest... this need to solve lifes mysteries. In the end what does it matter when the human heart can only find meaning in the smallest of moments? Theyre here... among us... in the shadows, in the light, everywhere. Do they even know yet?” There is a longing in us for answers that we try to respond through science and faith.

Mohinder Suresh Seeks answers for his father’s death and research. Niki Sanders Running away and longing for answers to her crisis (debts, identity). Hiro Nakamura Seeks answers in the future using 9 th Wonders! comic book. Mr. Bennet A mysterious man that seems to have more answers than it seems. Nathan Petrelli Running away from answers and concerned only with the elections. Peter Petrelli Seeks answers for his life (purpose) and has no conscious of his powers. Claire Bennet Seeks answers for her life (family) and has conscious of her powers.
  8. 8. An Existential MatterThe concept of cosmovision It’s our personal view of the world. It’s the way we see everything around us. Involves scientific knowledge. The knowledge acquired by science influences humankind’s history. Involves faith experience. Faith is remodelled throughout history when new discoveries are made.

An Existential MatterAn example of cosmovision change 1st situation: The Earth is the center of the Universe. 2nd situation: The Sun is the center of the Universe. 3rd situation: Neither the Sun nor the Earth are the center of the Universe. Conclusions 1. New discoveries remodel our cosmovision. 2. Scientific knowledge contributes to our evolution. 3. Faith is remodelled and acquires a new perspective.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, surrender leads to understanding but fools despise 2. The challenge to know God. wisdom and discipline. reverence leads to intimacy

  16. 16. TO THINK & PRACTICE3. Remember that God wants to know you. a. God loves and worries about you. That is why He sent His son Jesus Christ. b. God wants your existence to have a great purpose. “We are not here just to live.” c. God wants your life to be maximized, being fully lived with love.
