    • Getting StartedYou will need: A WPL card An amazon.com account Your Kindle A computer with internet access OR a public PC
    •  Open your computer’s browserAmazon and navigate to:Kindle downloads.waukeganpl.org
    •  Browse by genre or search byAmazon title or author’s nameKindle
    •  Click on the cover of the bookAmazon you’d like to read:Kindle
    •  Available formats are listed on theAmazon right. Check for Kindle Book.Kindle
    •  Click Borrow.AmazonKindle
    •  Enter your library card numberAmazon and click Sign In.Kindle
    •  Click the Download button,Amazon then choose Kindle Book.Kindle  Finally, click Confirm & Download.
    •  Note that you have beenAmazon redirected to amazon.com.Kindle  Click Get library book.
    •  Sign in to your amazon.comAmazon account.Kindle
    •  Choose the device on which you’dAmazon like to read your eBook from theKindle drop-down menu.  Click Continue.
    •  If you have wireless internet atAmazon home OR you’re in the library:Kindle turn on the Kindle, then sync it.  You’re done!
    •  If you are at home and you DOAmazon NOT have wireless internet,Kindle download the eBook and transfer it via USB
    •  Note that some publishersAmazon restrict eBook downloads soKindle that they cannot be delivered wirelessly to a Kindle. If you have checked out an eBook from one of these publishers, you’ll see a warning like this:  These titles may be transferred to your Kindle via USB.
    •  To return a book early, view YourAmazon Kindle LibraryKindle
    •  Click Actions, then Return thisAmazon bookKindle

    • General Information You may check out up to 3 eBooks per library card. Because eBooks are returned automatically at the end of the loan period, it is impossible to accrue overdue fines. Ebooks not owned by Waukegan Public Library cannot be obtained through interlibrary loan. You may suggest an eBook purchase on the library’s website or by speaking with a librarian. Only patrons with Waukegan Public Library cards may download eBooks. If the title you want is checked out, you may place a hold on it, just like a physical library book. Ebooks cannot be renewed, but may be checked out again as long as another patron doesn’t have a hold on the title.
