  • RENEGADE by J.A. SoudersThe launch of a new SF trilogy for readers 13 and upThis debut novel is Set in an underwater utopia known as ElysiumAbout 16-year-old girl named Evelyn Winters who slowly comes to realize that everything she’s ever been told about her life, her world, her people, are lies. And the person she knows as Mother is a Monster. The YA dystopian trend is in full bloomWhich is great. I’ve loved dystopian novels ever since ALAS BABYLON by Pat FrankBut it’s bothered me a little because dystopian is just one sub-genre of science fiction, and I think for a long time everyone wanted to avoid putting that label on YA books Good thing is that the popularity of dystopian fiction is broadening into interest in other SF tropes and sub-genres, as we’ve seen from the success of books like ACROSS THE UNIVERSE and GLOW, which makes sense. Destroy the Earth. Have to go out into Space. So I think we’ll see a lot more science fiction for teens in the coming years,Including books like RENEGADE

The world of Nightmares, Sirens, Wizards and Demons at Arkwell Academy is wondrous and strange, yet so human and well-drawn that you get the feeling you might stumble into it by accident if you go out wandering too late. The Nightmare Affair is whimsical and wild.” —Kendare Blake, author of Anna Dressed in Blood “I loved the love scenes. • 16. “When I was eleven, my father, my two best friends, and I found scattered human bones in a Michigan sand dune.” NOT FINAL COVER * An impressive and assured first novel based on an incident from the author’s childhood * Middle grade historical fiction that explores themes of Native American culture, ecology, and conservation “Julia Mary Gibson’s quiet masterpiece is an effortless alloy of magic and science… I fell as much in love with Violet Blake’s multi-talented, multiracial, generous, loving, crazy-flawed family as with Violet herself, teetering on the edge of childhood and maturity just as the Midwest teeters on the edge of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Violet’s world swallowed me whole.” —Elizabeth Wein, New York Times bestselling author of Code Name Verity 978-0-7653-3211-0 July 2014
  • 17. In the tradition of Diary of a Wimpy Kid comes this laugh-out-loud sequel to Cartboy and the Time Capsule Praise for Cartboy and the Time Capsule: “Campbell’s debut is fast and funny and dotted with drawings, labeled pictures, and goofy timelines. Hal’s authentic voice and realistic twelve-year-old sense of humor will hook Wimpy Kid fans.” —Kirkus Reviews “Sure, this sad-sack path blazed by Jeff Kinney’s Wimpy Kid is familiar ground, but Hal treads it well, and readers will find it easy to spend time with him.” —Horn Book Magazine 978-0-7653-3327-8 June 2014 978-0-7653-3317-9 Available now
