Toronto Old and New A City of Contrast Toronto Old and New:  A City of Contrast A Photo-essay by Sam Minden
Two of the oldest buildings in Toronto stand in the foreground, against the background  of the CN tower and other new buildings made of metal and glass.
The Royal York, once the tallest building in the whole of the British Empire, is now dwarfed by another newer building standing in the background.
A commerce building towers over the old red brick building.
The Bank of Nova Scotia building is obscured by a newer bank building.
Old City Hall is flanked on both sides by buildings that stand taller than it.
Toronto doesn’t have to relinquish the old for the new as seen here with old City Hall and the new City Hall.
The bridge connects the old and new.

An old Chinese man sits in close proximity to the Hard Rock Café to play his traditional instrument.
The Church of the Holy Trinity is engulfed by The Eaton Centre.
