DM Estimation Parameters for Meter Reading Entry

  1. 1. Estimation Parameters for MeterReading EntryThis post is about Estimation Parameters which is mentioned during thecustomization during Meter Reading. The Customizing node can be found here.SAP Utilities -> Device Management -> MeterReading -> Meter Reading Result -> Estimation -> Define Estimation Parameters forMeter Reading Result Entry.Estimation Parameters are mentioned as Percentages (%) and for a result entry it’sspecified according to Company Code and Division.Log Automatic Estimation is used for logging individual estimations when severalregisters are estimated together.Overest. Fact. Specifies the percentage by which the result shall exceed the expectedconsumption. This percentage is only used when a Meter Reading Note is usedduring Meter Reading Entry.OverFactor specifies the percentage by which the result shall exceed the expectedconsumption when the transaction EL30 (Estimate Meter Reading Automatically) orReport RELSCHZ1 is triggered.
  2. 2. Estimation Parameters for Meter Reading Entry 2011Special procedure check box is to trigger the enhancement EDMLELHA (ExtrapolationProcedure for Estimating MRR: Function Module is EXIT_SAPLELHR_003 Include isZXELXU10)So let’s check how the estimations get triggered. The values maintained in thecustomizing arewww.sapisurdg.com Page 2
  3. 3. Estimation Parameters for Meter Reading Entry 2011The master data has been maintained. The expected consumption shall be estimatedusing Periodic Consumption. So Expected Consumption for 1 Day is 10 units. So first we shall see the estimation when triggered by Meter Reading Note. Thepercentage value mentioned is 5% of the expected consumption. The Meter Reading isestimated till 31012011.As we see the periodic consumption comes into play.10 units for 1 Day * 31 Days =310 units.www.sapisurdg.com Page 3
  4. 4. Estimation Parameters for Meter Reading Entry 2011Now we shall before saving the Meter Reading enter the Note from Meter Reader asshown. Press Enter. An information Popup is shown. The &parameters are misplaced. It should be device<device number>, Register<register number>. Press Continue.www.sapisurdg.com Page 4
  5. 5. Estimation Parameters for Meter Reading Entry 2011The expected consumption has changed.Estimation percentage in case of Meter Reading Note Entered: 5%5% of 310 units (Expected Consumption) = 15.50 units.Net Expected Consumption = 310 units +15.50 = 325.50 units. Now let’s try with the estimation percentage when EL30 (Estimate Meter ReadingResult automatically) transaction is used.www.sapisurdg.com Page 5
  6. 6. Estimation Parameters for Meter Reading Entry 2011Select the Device and Press Estimate.Check the Meter Reading using Transaction Code EL31.Estimation percentage when transaction code EL30 is used: 10 %10 % of 310 units (Expected Consumption) = 31 unitsNet Expected consumption = 310 units + 31 = 341 units.www.sapisurdg.com Page 6
  7. 7. Estimation Parameters for Meter Reading Entry 2011So this is how the estimation percentages work.I didn’t try using the Special Procedure (Enhancement EDMLELHA) probably contentfor another post ☺Do post your feedback.Content also available at http://wp.me/p1Ci5j-5G.www.sapisurdg.com Page 7
