  • 1. IT REDEFINES BUSINESS EVOLUTION Technology Built for Business
  • 2. A STRATEGIC SHIFT Over the past five years, the information technology industry has undergone a massive shift to the “3rd Platform” for innovation and growth. The 3rd Platform is built on four technology pillars: • Mobile • Cloud • Big Data • Social technologies Spending on mobile, cloud, Big Data, social, and related offerings will grow 15%, drive 29% of IT spending, and drive 89% of IT spending growth in 2014.1 1 IDC, “IDC Predictions 2014: Battles for Dominance – and Survival – on the 3rd Platform” 2
  • 3. REDEFINED ROLE OF IT IT is at the center of this transformational change. No longer solely a service provider, IT is now a critical strategic enabler and trusted business adviser that works in collaboration with line-of-business executives to make decisions about solutions spending. How are you positioning your company to best take advantage of these core dynamics of the new marketplace? In 2014, and continuing through 2017, IT spending by groups outside of IT departments will grow at 6% per year.2 2 IDC, “IDC Predictions 2014: Battles for Dominance – and Survival – on the 3rd Platform” 3
  • 4. LAYING THE FOUNDATION It is up to IT to lay the technical foundation for mobile, digital, and cloud applications that businesses now require to stay competitive. Data-optimized cloud platforms offer a rich variety of Big Data analytics and management services that enable your company to compete in real time. The new 3rd Platform IT marketplace built on a whole new set of foundation technologies is being brought to market at unprecedented speed and urgency. Are your strategies and investments aligned with this emerging economy? Nearly 10% of general-purpose enterprise server, storage, networking, and management software spending will funnel through integrated systems in 2014, up from 6% to 7% in 2013.3 3 IDC, “IDC Predictions 2014: Battles for Dominance – and Survival – on the 3rd Platform” 4
  • 5. BIG OPPORTUNITIES IN BIG DATA Data is the lifeblood of your company and represents the biggest opportunity for you to gain a competitive advantage in customer centricity. Data volumes are expected to continue to explode, growing by 50% to about 6 trillion tetrabytes in 2014.4 As a result, the demand for analytics and information governance to manage the vast amounts of data flowing into the enterprise is huge: • Worldwide IT spending on Big Data technologies and services will grow by 30% in 2014, exceeding $14 billion5 • Over the next three years, 80% or more of the new apps emerging on the 3rd Platform will be data intensive6 • 2014 spending on Big Data analytics services will exceed $4.5 billion, growing at a 21% annual rate through 20167 IDC, “IDC Predictions 2014: Battles for Dominance – and Survival – on the 3rd Platform” Ibid 6 Ibid 7 Ibid 4 5 5
  • 6. A MOBILE ROADMAP The consumerizaton of IT has unleashed a proliferation of diverse mobile devices into the enterprise, transforming it into a bring-your-own-device (BYOD) environment. Consumers’ use of smartphones and tablets is also increasing. These mobile devices are expected to outsell PCs by about 2.5:1.8 As a result, IT is called to develop a mobile strategy that meets two goals: • Mobilize your workforce • Revolutionize the customer experience According to a forecast by IDC, more than 1.3 billion workers – 37% of the global workforce – will be using mobile technology by 2015.9 8 9 IDC, “IDC Predictions 2014: Battles for Dominance – and Survival – on the 3rd Platform” SAP, “The App-Happy Enterprise” 6
  • 7. HELP ME HELP YOU Before IT can help mobilize its workforce, it has to help itself. A trusted technology partner can help IT enable its organization to more easily adapt to market forces without creating big, disruptive changes. The right solutions can link together systems for an integrated, secure path forward and bring together transactional and analytical data on one platform. The hundreds of thousands to millions of new solutions on the 3rd Platform will drive the bulk of the industry’s growth over the next 20 years. Are you fully prepared to tap into these solutions and drive your business forward? 7
