  • 2. FootballIn the UK, there are 4 professional leagues – The Premier League, TheChampionship, League One and League Two. There are different leagues inScotland and Wales, but they are rubbish.Even though the football is the lower leagues isn´t very good, they still get bigcrowds, with teams like Bradford in League Two getting 10,000 fans eachgame.
  • 3. The clubs with the most successful histories are Liverpooland….Manchester United. However, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur,Leeds United and even clubs like Derby County and NottinghamForest (won the European club twice in 1979 and 1980) have richhistories.English football is renowned for it´s tough tackles and passionatefans.
  • 4. Leeds UnitedLeeds are one of the most hated football clubs in England. In the 1970s, theywere the best team, but also the most violent. They were nicknamed ´DirtyLeeds´ and are still disliked today. At games across the country, fans sing ´Weall hate Leeds scum´. However, Leeds fans like the fact that they are hated.
  • 5. Newcastle UnitedNewcastle are a massive club in England. They havecrowds of over 50,000 (including James). In the pastthey have won the league in 1905, 1907, 1909 and1927, FA cups in 1910, 1924 and 1932.
  • 6. Newcastle legends include former Leeds Unitedstriker Alan Smith, Spanish superstars Xisco,defensive powerhouse Titus Bramble, Nigerian bornShola Ameobi and the incredible Joey Barton.
  • 7. RugbyRugby is very popular in Australia, New Zealand, SouthAfrica, Wales, Scotland, Ireland and England. Even Spain have ateam, but they are terrible!
  • 8. The New Zealand Rugby team are renowned for their Haka. It´s adance they do before a game to try and scare the opposition. R2k&feature=related
  • 9. CricketCricket is very popular in England, India, Australia Pakistan andother countries around the world.The India vs Pakistan match last year had the biggest viewingattendance for any sporting event ever, with 1 billion peoplewatching.
  • 10. TennisWimbledon is the annual tennis competition in London. It´s a verypopular and prestigious event. Traditions include eating strawberriesand cream, drinking champagne and sitting on ´Henman Hill´.The sport is also popular in the USA.
  • 11. American SportsUSA have their own range of sports. The most popular is AmericanFootball. The Super Bowl competition is held every year and gets aglobal audience of 111 m.illion viewers.The second most popular is baseball, with soccer and ice hockey after.Ice Hockey is a very, very violent sport, with fight in every game. watch?v=iI_D9O53Cwo
  • 12. BoxingBoxing is popular in the USA, and a bit in the UK. However, manyconsider the sport to be dying, with it´s hayday being in the 70sand 80s with Mohammed Ali, Joe Fraser and George Foreman.
  • 13. London Olympics The Olympics is London are expected to be a good event. People are excited about being able to see the different sports. The two most popular sports are the 100metre run and the beach volleyball.
  • 14. Winter Olympics CanadaIn 1998, two business men from Jamaica decided tostart a Jamaican bobsleigh team. However, they hadno money for equipment and had never seen snowbefore. got together 4 Jamaicans to be in thebobsleigh team, trained very hard and managed togo to the Winter Olympics 1998 in Canada.
  • 15. When the team arrived in Canada, everyone made fun of them. Theyfound the cold weather very strange. They ended up losing the finalrace, but everyone was proud of them because they proved peoplewrong. Now they have quite a good bobsleigh team.
