    • FR. ADRIAN’S CORNER Our new me for the Men’s Prayer and Discernment seems to be just right for everyone. It was great to see so many men show-up and to have faith sharing and prayer with them. If you are over 21 and wish to join us on the first Thursday of the month at the St. Francis Room at the Mission, send me a quick email at your convenience. People are asking about kneelers in the new Blessed Sacrament Chapel at the Serra Center. I’m afraid there just isn’t room in that small space. We debated and decided that seats were best as not everyone can kneel but most folks can sit. We have done our best with the space and hope you like it. The table upon which the tabernacle stands is temporary un l we have one made that can accommodate the many communion bowls we place on it a er Holy Communion. The Parish Pilgrimage to Rome and Assisi is filling up. If you wish to go in October please call or email Wendy Brophy as soon as possible at 858-756-4174 x1702 or email at wbrophy@ggtravel.com The Annual Catholic Appeal is upon us again. We were very generous last year and hope that we can be the same this year. Our money goes to assist the many fine programs in the Diocese of San Diego that help to train men for the diocesan priesthood, feed the hungry and homeless, provide counseling for married couples and a myriad of other services for the needy and disadvantaged in the local Church. Thank you as always for your kindness and generosity. Sister Death has taken many parishioners home in recent days. We extend to all who grieve the loss of loved ones our hear elt sympathy. Here is a prayer for people who are grieving that I like: Grief (By Cardinal Basil Hume) Grief cannot be shared, for it is mine alone. Grief is a dying within me, a great emp ness, a frightening void. It is loneliness, a sickening sorrow at night, on awakening a terrible dread. Another's words do not help. A reasoned argument explains li le for having tried too much. Silence is the best response to another's grief. Not the silence that is a pause in speech, awkward and unwanted, but one that unites heart to heart. Love, speaking in silence, is the way into the void of another's grief. The best of all loves come silently, and slowly too, to so en the pain of grief, and begin to dispel the sadness. It is the love of God, warm and true, which will touch the grieving heart and heal it. He looks at the grieving person and has pity, for grief is a great pain. He came among us to learn about grief, and much else too, this Man of Sorrows. He knows. He understands. Grief will yield to peace - in me. May the Lord give you peace. Fr. Adrian GRIEF: A HEALING JOURNEY Grief Support Ministry This ministry provides ongoing emoonal support for people in the midst of their grief and the healing process. Trained and experienced facilitators guide the group by providing opportuni es to share experiences, thoughts and feelings with others in similar situa ons.
