  • 1. Welcome to Mission San Luis Rey Parish
  • 2.  
  • 3. This week starts with our celebration of Palm Sunday, marking the solemn entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, surrounded by rapturous crowds waving palm branches, singing Hosanna!
  • 4. Then begins Triduum, the three sacred days devoted to the Lord’s Passion, Death and Resurrection.
  • 5. A “Tenebrae” prayer service will be offered instead of 7:30am morning Masses in the parish chapel.
  • 6. On Thursday April 21 st , we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper at 7pm in the Serra Center. During Mass, we will celebrate Jesus’ last supper with his disciples. We will imitate Jesus’ who washed the feet of his disciples and told them to lead humble lives of service in His name.
  • 7. On Friday, April 22, the Old Mission Montessori students will reenact the Passion of Our Lord in the Serra Center from 12noon to 1pm.
  • 8. On Friday, April 22, Taize Prayer will be offered around the cross in the Serra Center from 3pm to 4pm.
  • 9. On Friday April 22 st , we will also celebrate the Lord’s Passion at 5pm with the Way of the Cross/Via Crucis, organized by the Hispanic Community, and then a Multicultural celebration at 7:30pm in the Serra Center. In prayer and liturgy, we enter into the tremendous mystery of Jesus’ Passion: His arrest, imprisonment, torture, and death on the Cross.
  • 10. On Saturday April 23 st , we will celebrate the Lord’s Easter Vigil at 7:30pm in the Serra Center. We proclaim “He is risen!” with 64 new members of our faith community, our catechumens and candidates. In prayer and liturgy, we enter into the tremendous mystery of Jesus’ Passion: His arrest, imprisonment, torture, and death on the Cross.
  • 11. On Sunday April 24 th , we will celebrate Easter Sunday at 7:00am in the Old Mission, 8am and 10am (English) in Serra Center and 12noon (Spanish). We proclaim “He is risen!” and celebrate together the victory of Jesus Christ over sin and death. From “Hosanna” to Alleluia”, the Lord guides us through this Holy Week. You’re invited to join us at any or all of the services offered.
  • 12. PARISH OFFICES CLOSED The parish offices will be closed on Tuesday April 26 th and Wednesday April 27 th , 2011 due to the Easter Holiday. Office Hours will resume from 8am to 4pm beginning Thursday April 28 th .
