  • Today I am going to talk with you for a few minutes about how to prepare a resume. Why are we talking to you today about preparing a resume. Well, one reason is that it is a requirement upon entrance into the Teacher Preparation Academy, it is required when you begin your student teaching placement and it will be an important tool when you apply for a teaching position upon graduation. At each of these milestones, your resume provides the information about your interests and qualifications for a teaching position. With the resume you prepare now for the Teacher Preparation Academy you will be laying a foundation upon which you can build the resume you want and need when you begin applying for a teaching position at graduation.
  • Key Concepts: The facilitator should begin by briefly stating what will be covered during the presentation. The bulleted information on this page highlights the main points that will be covered in the following slides. Rationale: The facilitator may point out at this time why it is important to write a job acceptance letter. A job acceptance letter is a written confirmation accepting a position that an employer has offered an applicant. It is proper business etiquette to acknowledge the offer and respond in a timely manner. The following presentation will highlight specific details that should be included.

When & Why Do I Need a Cover Letter? <ul><li>Any time you send your resume to an employer it should be accompanied by a cover letter. </li></ul><ul><li>A cover letter acts as an introduction for your resume. </li></ul><ul><li>A cover letter also stands as a sample of your writing skills, so be sure to make it the best possible sample you can. </li></ul><ul><li>If you are sending your resume via email - the cover letter is the email message itself. Then attach the resume following the employer's instructions (i.e., MSWord document, text document, etc.) </li></ul>
