  • 2. Recognise that supporting individuals get on the road to recovery The number of people suffering from drinking, drugs and gambling problems are increasing. These individuals and their families struggle to be active and involved in society because of the many difficulties and barriers they face. People need information and support and services that can meet their needs. There is a need to work with partner organisations nationally for early intervention. (Birmingham initiative hailed as future of 'Big Society‘.)
  • 3. External factors impacting Aquarius supporting individuals get on the road to recovery
    • Political – spending cuts, outsourced services
    • Economical – high numbers in debt, inability to cope
    • Social – increasing numbers of individuals needing help
    • Technical – slower then expected support services
    • Legal – high crime rates
    • Environmental –intensity of demands to welfare and LT
    Key is not to just review these forces but to agree on strategy for risk taking, harnessing opportunity – managing change
  • 4. Internal factors impacting Aquarius supporting individuals get on the road to recovery
    • Resources
    • Human – skills and experience
    • Financial – How to raise more funds
    • Physical – premises, client access to services
    • Holistic service delivery – drink, drugs, gambling – in future smoking and obesity
  • 5. Easily Aquarius can miss opportunities and this impacts on future sustainability ….and survival supporting individuals get on the road to recovery
  • 6. What choice does ‘ Aquarius ’ have? supporting individuals get on the road to recovery
    • Increased need for service with less funding
    Community organisations have to be more business focused and marketing oriented
  • 7. Key challenges for marketing orientation supporting individuals get on the road to recovery Cultural Change - from a caring environment (to target driven) with poor structures, systems, processes and management reporting How to increase Campaigns – so that more people are supported Keeping up with trends – e.g. healthcare provision, public perception R&D – how to introduce new technology for gathering information, build knowledge management systems and training and encouraging staff to adopt reporting mechanisms Develop profile of Aquarius – re-branding as a recognised service provider using track record of best practice and success stories since 1989 Funds – increase pricing mechanisms, develop expertise in tendering submissions and ways other to increase income
  • 8. Solutions for meeting these challenges supporting individuals get on the road to recovery
    • Re visit Aquarius business plan, business objectives and re new marketing plans and activities
    • Renew Aquarius’ vision, mission, values and what it ultimately wants to achieve? - Support individuals to get back on track and become active citizens
    • - Innovate and develop new models of working
    • - To be experts in field - Gather evidence – impact of intervention against KPI’s
    • Internal analysis (swot, resources)
  • 9. Carry out internal marketing supporting individuals get on the road to recovery
    • Decide what cultural changes need to be made to achieve goals – everyone as a part to play (PD)
    • Continuous communications of benefits important – take everyone with you
    • Embed marketing throughout systems, functions, and processes to add value and also collect key data - ‘build a Knowledge Bank’ and system for management reporting
    • Review allocation of resources, processes and services – make improvements
    • Integrate research for future growth – e.g. staff survey
  • 10. Celebrate Successes supporting individuals get on the road to recovery
    • Build momentum to work collectively
    • Communicate regularly – targets, goals and achievements – evaluate what worked what did not and lessons learnt, improvements made
    • Celebrate Aquarius achievements
    • Marketing oriented but internal resources-led – this is what can be used to differentiate from competition
