  • Origin of Cupcake
    The first mention of the cupcake was in 1796 in a book called ”AmericanCookery” written by Amelia Simms
  • In the beginning cupcakes were called “Number cakes” to easily remember the ingredients measured in the recipe.
    A typical recipe in 1796 would consist of the following ingredients
    One cup of butter
    Four eggs
    One cup of milk
    Two cups of sugar
    One spoonful of
    baking soda
    Three cups of flour
  • Cupcakes made their first appearance in America sometime in the 19th Century
  • Fun facts about Cupcakes
    • December 15th is National Cupcake day!
    • The number of cupcakes eaten last year had more mass than the entire Earth!
    • One cupcake without frosting averages about 130 calories
