Our team used one loaf of bread to create a Facebook page called "Multi-Culti Bread" that shares pictures and information about bread from around the world. The goal is to increase cultural awareness by highlighting similarities and differences between cultures' bread traditions. We raised awareness of the Facebook page on social media and hosted two "Virtual Bread Breaking" immersion events in Second Life for people to learn about other cultures. The value of the project is providing a platform for cross-cultural discussions about food traditions in classrooms worldwide.

3. Our project: Multi-Culti Bread
Goal
Our goal with this project is to increase cultural awareness through the simple act of sharing pictures and
information related to bread from across the globe. Why have we chosen this project? Bread can take many
forms and the majority of us across the globe have in common the act of eating daily some form of bread.
Cultural awareness is "the foundation of communication and it involves the ability of standing back from
ourselves and becoming aware of our cultural values, beliefs and perceptions. Why do we do things in that
way? How do we see the world? Why do we react in that particular way?"

Implementation
1. Facebook community page: We first created a facebook community pag:
https://www.facebook.com/multicultibread.
2. Raising awareness: We raised awareness about the fb page through both facebook, twitter, and other
social media.
3. Immersion events: We hosted two “Virtual Bread Breaking” immersion events in Second Life and invited
people to come and meet others from across the world.
Value
The idea of the project to create a dynamic facebook page that can be used by school classes across the
globe to discuss similarities and differences between their own culture and others as a means to raise
cultural awareness.
