    Prelabnotes2 3 - Presentation Transcript

    1. PRE-LAB Notes For all FAST Labs ALWAYS - use a ruler, THINK, list any safety issues.
    2. 1. Title
      • This is usually the title at the top of the lab in the black banner. IT will begin with PS# 2 for our first lab
      • PS is represented by the Erlenmeyer flask and means it is a physical science lab
    3. 2. Question
      • This is usually the PROBLEM in a fast lab. It often explains what the dependent variable is going to be.
    4. 3. Background
      • 1. READ the background.
      • Look for words or phrases in italics
      • Underline new ideas or important connections to old ideas
      • 2. WRITE the important words and concepts in this section .
    5. Look at the materials list. READ the entire procedure.
    6. 4. Experimental Design
      • Make a scientific diagram of the apparatus.
      • Use arrows to show where you will be able to measure, count or observe the dependent variable.
      • Explain any possible difficulties or constants to consider.
      • Label the parts and materials
    7. 5. Data
      • Copy data tables.
      • Be sure to give them complete titles.
      • Label all the fields.
      • ID the IV and DV.
      • ASK , “How will this table help me answer the QUESTION?” (see # 2)
