  • 7. A tower to reach heavenFor many years after Noah’s death, the peoplemultiplied on the earth, and all spoke the samelanguage. At one time they settled in a valley andmade a plan together:“Let’s build a city and a great tower that will reachall the way to heaven!” In their pride, they wanted toshow how great and powerful they were. But Godwas displeased with the people’s desire for fameand glory. To put a stop to this, all He did was simplyconfused their language.Very soon, they weren’t able to understand eachother and the work on the tower stopped. The peopleleft the area, and the great tower was left unfinished. You can read the story of the Tower of Babel inGenesis chapter 11, verses 1 through 9.
