  • 1. Fa l l 2 012 A D P N e ws l e t t e r Volume 2: issue 1 August/September Welcome to a new academic year in the ADP at Belmont Abbey College! We are looking forward to a new and exciting year. Please be sure and welcome the more than 150 new students and 20 newTHE NIGHT OWL faculty who have joined the ADP this semester. In addition to new students and instructors, the space on the Sacred Heart Campus has also expanded with the completion of the renovations to Mercedes Hall. The opening of Mercedes has increased the number of classrooms and study areas available to ADP students. Located on the first floor you will find a student lounge. Equipped with tables, couches, vending machines and wifi, this is a great place to study, grab a snack, eat dinner before class, or sit and chat with your friends. For those seeking a more spiritual atmosphere, there is a chapel on the first floor of Mercedes Hall. This beautiful chapel is open to students, staff and faculty of all faiths who wish for a place to pray or engage in quiet reflection. A computer lab and study area will open on the second floor of Mercedes Hall later this semester. Mercedes Hall As always, the ADP staff is here to assist you in all your academic endeavors. In reality, student feedback is used toimprove the quality of both the academic and social experienceof students on campus.Did you know that the College has made many changes as aresult of suggestions and feedback provided by students takingsurveys? For example, students wanted more food options andthe College responded by expanding the grill options at HolyGrounds and adding smoothies! Another common frustration ofstudents is the cost of textbooks. The College responded byworking with vendors to lower the cost of textbooks by 9%,reducing the cost below many online sites. Additionally, theCollege bookstore expanded operating hours in an attempt tobetter serve ADP students. So, next time you receive a surveyrequest in your e-mail inbox, please take the time to completethe survey because your feedback is important. Without yourhelp these changes cannot happen.
