Plot Synopsis <ul><ul><li>Catalina betrays Claude by shooting him after a succesful robbery the two conduct at Liberty City Bank. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Claude is arrested, yet breaks out with fellow convict 8-Ball after a gangland attack on the prison van. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Claude helps 8-Ball steal a car and drives him to safety at his hideout. As thanks, 8-Ball sets Claude up with a meeting with Liberty City's most powerful mob boss, Salvatore Leone. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Before he is allowed a sit-down with Leone, Claude must perform two tasks for Leone associates: killing a Leone nemesis and cleanly disposing of the body. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>During Claude's sit-down with Leone, Leone claims Yakuza crimelord Kenji Kasen is responsible for Catalina's betrayal. Intrigued by Claude, Leone asks for him to drive his daughter Maria home as an act of good faith. </li></ul></ul>
  14. 14.               Plot Synopsis Continued <ul><ul><li>Claude and Maria fall passionately in love during their encounter, in which Claude reveals he must seek out Kenji to discover why Catalina betrayed him. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Claude sneaks his way up Kenji's gang by killing Yakuza adversaries until he is finally granted a sitdown with Kenji. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Kenji provides proof of Catalina's betrayal, not because of him, but Leone himself. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>In Claude's attempt to confront Leone, he is ambushed by the Italian gang forcing him to brutally slay anyone in his path. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Claude's reunion with Leone reveals he is in league with Catalina and has given her Maria as bait upon prior knowledge of Claude's intention to kill him. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Claude savegely kills Leone regardless in an attempt to rescue Maria from Catalina's clutches. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>With the assistance of the Yakuza, Claude is able to overcome Catalina and rescue Maria. The two of them drive off in a sports car into the great unknown. </li></ul></ul>
