  3. 3. Teen spending estimated to top $200 billion by 2007 Teens represent the first significant demographic change in the past decade. Not since the Baby Boom's teenage years has this age group been so large. Twenty-five million strong in 2004. By 2010, teens are projected to comprise 10% of the US population. Today's teens are the most affluent generation of young people to date. Teens' dollars are primarily spent on themselves.                         Teens with wads of cash flex spending muscle Marketers focus on this huge consumer group The average American teen spent more than $104 a week The fastest-growing group of bankruptcy filers is people age 25 and younger, freshmen bring an average of $1,585 in credit card debt to college. &quot;Total U.S. teen spending exceeds the gross domestic product of countries such as Finland, Norway, Portugal, Denmark and Greece,&quot;

Spiritual Reasons <ul><li>How we handle money impacts our relationship with Christ </li></ul><ul><li>Luke 16:11 “ If therefore you are not faithful in the use of worldly wealth, who will entrust the true riches to you” </li></ul><ul><li>Money is the primary competitor with Christ for the Lordship of our life </li></ul><ul><li>Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters; for he will either hate the one and love the other..You cannot serve God and money </li></ul>

Practical Reasons <ul><li>The Lord wanted to give us a blueprint for handling our money </li></ul><ul><li>Principles for earning, spending, saving, investing, giving and getting out of debt </li></ul><ul><li>Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth so are My ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” </li></ul>
  9. 9. <ul><li>Responsibilities for handling the money </li></ul><ul><li>Gods Part </li></ul><ul><li>Ownership We have to learn contentment in recognizing God as the owner of all possessions Luke 14:33 </li></ul>
  10. 10. CONTROL <ul><li>God is in ultimate control of every event </li></ul><ul><li>1 Chronicles 29:11 We adore you as being in control of everything. We have to realize that God orchestrates even seemingly devastating circumstances for ultimate good. Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. </li></ul>
  11. 11. PROVISION <ul><li>God promises to provide for our needs Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” </li></ul>
  12. 12. OUR PART <ul><li>Be a steward of the Lord’s possessions </li></ul><ul><li>Be faithful You may have heard we should give the Lord 10% but what do we do with the remaining 90%? Luke 16:10 He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous in much.” </li></ul>
