MASTER OF PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT STUDIES Catalog Year 2003-04 Student Name ________________________________________ Enrollment in the following classes require formal PREREQUISITES admission to the Physician Assistant Program All applicants are required to have all of the following completed upon entering the PA Program: DIDACTIC PHASE • Bachelor's degree from a four-year, regionally PHA 501 (1) accredited college or university. PHA 502 (1) • Satisfactory completion of the medical core PHA 503 (1) prerequisite courses. No grade lower than a "C" PHA 504 (5) on any medical core prerequisite course will be PHA 505 (6) accepted. PHA 506 (6) • A minimum recommended GPA of 3.0 or better on all PHA 507 (3) college level work attempted. PHA 508 (3) • Completion of the GRE. PHA 509 (2) • No history of drug abuse or conviction of a felony. PHA 510 (2) No history of dismissal from another PA school, PHA 511 (2) medical school, or nursing school for academic or PHA 512 (2) disciplinary reasons. PHA 513 (2) • A minimum recommended GPA of 3.2 or better on PHA 515 (2) required medical core prerequisite courses. PHA 516 (2) PHA 518 (1) REQUIRED MEDICAL CORE PREREQUISITE COURSES PHA 519 (2) BIOLOGY- 17 semester hours to include: PHA 520 (1) Anatomy & Physiology PHA 522 (2) Microbiology PHA 523 (1) And other human and/or animal life sciences. No PHA 524 (1) botany, ecology, nutrition or physical education PHA 525 (1) courses accepted. PHA 528 (2) NOTE: Anatomy and Physiology and Microbiology PHA 529 (4) Courses must be completed within six years of PHA 530 (2) admission to the MC PA Program. PHA 540 (2) PHA 541 (2) CHEMISTRY - 16 semester hours to include: General Chemistry 8 sh CLINICAL PHASE Organic Chemistry 4 sh PHA 550 (3) Biochemistry 4 sh PHA 551 (8) PHA 552 (4) MATH - 6 semester hours to include: PHA 553 (4) College algebra or higher PHA 554 (4) Applied Statistics PHA 555 (4) NOTE: Both courses must have a math or statistics prefix. PHA 556 (4) PHA 557 (4) PSYCHOLOGY - 6 semester hours PHA 558 (4) See recommended Additional Courses PHA 559 (4) PHA 560 (4) NOTE: All science, math , and psychology courses must PHA 561 (2) be taken at a four-year regionally accredited college PHA 565 (2) or university, or must be taken through a college PHA 566 (2) transfer program.
