  • Email from Fiona Maybin April 04 – Yesterday the results of the 2004 UK Graduate Careers Survey (run by Highfliers in conjunction with The Times) were launched. I am very pleased to announce that the NHS has jumped again in the rankings to .....Number 5 This is a fantastic result from our placing of 9 last year and 27 the year before that. Thanks go to everyone involved in the schemes and their promotion. To give you some background, over 15,000 finalists were interviewed in February this year and asked the question "Which organisation do you think offers the best opportunities for graduates?". Over 400 employers were mentioned, so to be in the top 100 is an acheivement in itself. The criteria that finalists use to determine their answers varies between individuals - some focus on the training and development that a graduate programme provides or the organisations' general reputation. Others are more concerned about the financial packages that are on offer from employers, or reflect on the scale of organsiations graduate development programmes. The second half of the survey, which will reveal the top 10 employers considered to provide the best programmes sector by sector (where last year NHS was top of the ranking for employers providing general management schemes and number four in the finance sector) will be released next week
