  • 2. STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION Anatomy is the study of the body’s structure, and physiology is thestudy of the body’s function. Having a knowledge of both anatomyand physiology can be very helpful in attempting to solve problemsconcerning the body’s health. CAN YOU NAME THIS FUNCTION?
  • 3. LIFE CHARACTERISTICS Growth, reproduction, development The composition of an organism The responsiveness and the organization CAN YOU NAME THIS FUNCTION?
  • 4. HOMEOSTASIS Homeostasis is the tendency of a system, especially thephysiological system of higher animals, to maintain internalstability, owing to the coordinate response of its parts to any situationor stimulus that would tend to disturb its normal condition orfuntion. CAN YOU NAME THIS FUNCTION?
  • 5. HUMAN ORGANIZATIONS The body is described as having seven different structural levels.Them being: Chemical, Organelle, Cell, Tissue, Organ, OrganSystem, Organism. Chemical is broken down into three smallersubsections being atom, molecule, and macromolecule. Organism isthe final stage, where a single complete individual is made. CAN YOU NAME THIS FUNCTION?
  • 6. ANATOMICAL PLANES Coronal plane (frontal plane)- divides the body in half (belly and back) Sagittal plane- left and right halves Midsagittal-(median plane)- equal let and right Transverse- sectional plane divides the body into superior and inferior CAN YOU NAME THIS FUNCTION?
  • 7. DIRECTIONAL TERMS Anterior-front  Inferior-below  Central-near midline Posterior-behind  Peripheral- away from the Distal-farther from origin midline Proximal-closer to origin  Superficial-closer to body Dorsal-toward the back surface Ventral-toward the belly  Deep-farther from body surface Superior-above
  • 8. BODY ORGANIZATIONS  The human organism can be divided into an axial portion (head, neck, and trunk), the abdomen can be divided into four quadrants or nine regions  CAN YOU NAME THIS FUNCTION?
