Investment Banking Financial Services Apprenticeship Business & Financial Services Solutions Business Support,Training & Jobs Apprenticeships are the work based study equivalent to Full time FE & HE aimed at young people working Financial Services through specialised pathways like the one outlined below. Financial Services Apprenticeships are made up of a number of building blocks: • Technical Qualification – SII - Investment Administration Qualification (IAQ) which demonstrates an individual’s knowledge • Competence Qualification – the NVQ - this demonstrates How is this delivered? that the individual meets specified competencies to nationally benchmarked standards • All delivered in the workplace with dedicated qualified Industry Specialised Assessors • Key Skills – these demonstrate an individual’s ability to • Worked on a bi-monthly schedule for 1 hr sessions per individual communicate effectively and to use number skills • IAQ study and revision workshops are built into the schedule alongside the competency ( NVQ ) element Providing Financial Services • Progress reviews are carried out every 8 weeks and Advanced Apprenticeship in performance reports are distributed to employer/ Investment Administration ( L3) Managers etc • Performance rates on the IAQ have increased for those NVQ Level 3 Providing Financial Services undertaking an Apprenticeship (Investment Administration) 3 Mandatory units 4 Technical units (Investment Administration) or Business Benefits 2 Technical (Investment Administration) and • Staff qualified to National Industry Standard via National 2 cross sector units Recognised Framework • Increases staff retention Technical Certificate (SII Professional Qualification) IAQ ( L3 Certificate) Investment Administration Qualification • Supports compliance with FSA Training & Competence Introduction to Securities & Investment, Regulation Module • Progression opportunity on to a PT Degree upon & Optional Module from selected list achievement is available in the Northwest • Support recruitment of School and College Leavers Key Skills • Accessed by existing staff immediately even if they are L2 Communication already working towards the IAQ qualification L2 Application of Number Employment Rights & Responsibilities - Mapped across from company Induction Eligibility Apprenticeships are now available to adults as well as young Approximate Timescale – 18 months Maximum people, as a developed programme for all employed staff that meet the eligibility criteria below: • Learners must have been UK residents for past 3 years • Learners must be employed for a minimum of 16 hours per week in an investment banking environment “The above Apprenticeship is ideally suited • Graduates are not eligible for Apprenticeship to Back Office Administration teams working funding - but can still undertake the framework at in an Investment Management/Banking a commercial cost to an organisation environment and is very specialised around Securities and Investment type roles”.
