Play coffee morning

  1. 1. . We are never too old to play!
  2. 2.  As this coffee morning is about play we are going to start by playing a game. Do this and Do that
  3. 3. What is play?  Play is anything we do just for fun!!
  4. 4. Everyone needs to play!
  5. 5. As we play we LEARN!!!
  6. 6.  There are lots of different ways we play.  We are going to talk about some of them to illustrate the learning that is taking place. As we play we LEARN!!!
  7. 7. “Rough and Tumble”
  8. 8. Solitary Play
  9. 9. Imaginative Play
  10. 10.  Play teaches the skills we need for later life.  It helps to make shape who we are as adults
  11. 11. There is evidence that short regular breaks improve children’s performance in school (Pellegrini and Holmes 2006). In a similar way, children need breaks from structured activities at home. Break time is important!
  12. 12. Playing together is good for your child and good for you!! Playing at home

  14. 14. Over to you! We have a selection of toys. In groups have a look at the toys and discuss how playing with them make you feel and what you are learning.
