Construction and Commissioning of Lift Irrigation schemes upto an ayacut of 10,000 acres through APSIDC
Free power supply to all LI Schemes monitored by APSIDC
Revival of defunct LI Schemes
Providing dedicated power lines to LI Schemes having HT power supply
Handing over of LI Schemes to Farmers’ Committees/WUA for operation and maintenance

Livelihoods Promotion to increase production and productivity
Participatory Monitoring, Learning and Evaluation for best results through efficient processes and systems

Steps by the Government in 2004
Provided free power supply to all LI Schemes
Hastened process of revival of defunct LI Schemes
Provided dedicated power lines to all LI Schemes having HT power supply
Initiated Social Engineering activities for Community capacity building and empowerment of Farmers’ Committees for effective management of LI Schemes
Initiated water conservation measures including motivation of farmers for taking up ID Crops and SRI paddy

Objectives of Social Engineering Mission
To empower Community for participatory Water Resource Planning to fulfill the contemplated ayacut of LI Schemes and maximize output.
To develop and inculcate sustainable Water Management practices through participatory modules and capacity building exercises
To empower community for management, operation and maintenance of the schemes with an emphasis on social equity
To facilitate users participation in comprehensive management of LI Schemes.

Sustainability of LI Schemes
Regular Water Tax being paid by Ayacutdars (as decided by the LI Society) & Corpus
System Operation i.e., Payments to pump operators, luskers etc., - Management
System Maintenance (Preventive and emergency), AMC & Insurance
