  • 1. IN THIS MODULE YOU WILL LEARN ABOUT:-  BABUR  HUMAYUN  Sher Shah Suri  AKBAR  JAHANGIR  SHAH JAHAN
  • 2. Babur was born on Feb- 14, 1483. Babur is also known as "THETIGER”His full name is ZahiruddinMuhammad Babur.By the age of 21 Baburconquered Kabul and heattacked India 4 times but theattacks were not successful.
  • 3. At this time Maharana SangramSingh and Daulat Khan invitedBabur to defeat Ibrahim Lodi .Babur used his militarygenius to defeat Ibrahim Lodi.Finally Babur defeated IbrahimLodi in the FRIST BATTLE OFPANIPAT in AD 1526
  • 4. Rana Singh hoped that afterdefeating Ibrahim Lodi Babur willreturn to afghan .However, havingconquered Delhi , Babur decided tostay in India. This led toBATTLE OF KHANUA in AD1527 near Fatehpur Sikri. Baburwon the battle .But Babur‟s rulelasted for only 3 years ,He diedin AD 1530 (47 years).

  • 6. He was born on 17 March1508. His full name was Nasir-ud-din Muhammad Humayun . He was Babur favorite son. Humayun tried to enlarge hisempire by annexing the presentday Gujarat.
  • 7.  He was born in 1486. His full name is farid Khan. He was the Afghan governor ofpresent day Bihar. He defeated Humayun in the“BATTLE OF CHAUSA” in AD1539. He built Grand trunk roadwhich runs from East Bengal topeshwar.
  • 8.  He introduced the silver coinscalled “rupiya” and gold coinscalled “mohur” and copper coinscalled “dam”. He died in may 22 in 1545(age-75)
  • 9. His region was up to (AD 1540-1545).
  • 10.  When the Sher Khan diedhis successors were not capableto rule the administration . Humayun took advantageof this weakness andcaptured Lahore, Agra andDelhi.He died in 27 January1556 ( age- 47).
  • 11. His region was up to (26December 1530 – 17 may 1540)And (22 February 1555 – 27January 1556 ).
  • 12. Akbar was born on 14 October,AD 1542 in amarkot . His full name is Jalal-ud-dinMuhammad Akbar He was only 13 years oldwhen he was crowned as emperorof mughal empire . His tutor was Bairam Khanand took care of administrationof till when the Akbar was 18.
  • 13. Now Adil shah (Sher Shah Suriis nephew ) wanted to take backthe Delhi with the help ofhemu(adil shah‟s general) . Thisled to battle. Bairam khan andAkbar met Hemu in secondbattle of panipat in AD 1556.Akbar won the battle.
  • 14. Akbar was a ambitious man .Akbar did not depend on the useof military force. He was thehead of both the military forceand the administrative set-up.In the Akbar‟s AdministrationWazir – Prime Minister.Diwan- revenue collector.Bakshi- was the pay master ofthe Army.
  • 15. Akbar introduced the“MANASABDARI SYSTEM”(rank). Akbar also followed thesystem of dagh-wa-chehra. Heabolished the religious tax onnon-Muslims, called the Jaziya.In AD1575, Akbar opened theIbadat Khana at his newcapital, Fatehpur Sikri. Akbarfounded his own religion calledDin-i-Iiahi or the „divine faith‟.
  • 16. In Akbar‟s court there werenavaratnas or “nine jewels” .They included-Mian Tansen (the court singer) Abul fazl (the court poet) Birbal (the wisdom) Todar Mal (the renownedgeneral) Man Singh (the renownedgeneral).
  • 17. Ibadat khana. He died in 27 October 1605 (aged 63).  His region was up to (27 January 1556 – 27 October 1605).
  • 18.  He was born on 20September 1569. His full name is Nur-ud-din Muhammad Salim. He was the Akbar‟seldest son.
  • 19. One of the work of Jahangirwas to control thereson,Khusra.When the Jahangirwas informed that guruarjun dev aided his sonjahangir angered andimposed fine on him.GuruArjun dev refused to payfine. Jahangir killed GuruArjun Dev. So there was abitter struggle between theSikhs and the Mughals.
  • 20. Jahangir wrote hisautobiography called “Tuzuk-i-Jhangiri. In AD 1622 hishealth declined and he diedon 8 November 1627 (aged58).The next ruler ofmughal empire wasShahjahan.
  • 21. HIS REGION WAS UP TO 15OCTOBER 1605 – 8 NOVEMBER1627
  • 22.  He was born on 5 January1592. His full name is Shahab-ud-din Muhammad Khurram. Shah jahan was married toMumtaz Mahal.
  • 23. Shahjahan led succesfulmilitary campaigns. Shahjahan then went to Bengal toput down the power of thePortuguese . The Portuguesewere forcibly converting peopleto christians .More than10,000 portuguese were killedand many were prisoned.
  • 24. Shah jahan was a masterbuilder . When Mumtaz Mahaldied in AD 1631,Shahjahanbuilt the TaJ Mahal to house thetomb of his beloved wife.The TajMahal remains one of thewonders of the world even today.Shahjahan died on 22 January1666 (aged 74).
  • 25. HIS REGION WAS UP TO 8NOVEMBER 1627 – 2 AUGUST 1658.
