through the ‘Women Safety Rally’, we want to permeate the
message of road safety among women riders by encouraging
the use of helmet while riding two-wheelers.”
“The alarming trend of lower adoption of helmets among
women riders is on the rise. We are hopeful such initiatives will
help in creating awareness and sensitising the society towards
the use of helmets. We are thankful to the Delhi traffic police
for their continued support in our joint efforts for making Delhi
roads safe for all,” Mr Guleria said.
While conforming to the prescribed ISI standards, the helmets distributed by Honda also focus on style,
comfort and safety; and are specially designed for women participants.
About Road Safety Promotion by Honda
Globally, road safety is Honda’s top priorities since 1970. After its inception in India in 2001, Honda
initially promoted its safe riding concepts through its dealership networks.
Aimed at the women riders, Honda had also launched the ‘Dream riding’ initiative to initiate them into
two-wheeler riding. Aspiring women riders above 18 years of age just need to drop a mail with their
details on the e-mail id: dreamriding@ttpdelhi.in, and can learn how to ride a two-wheeler in a single
day from trained Honda female instructors in a specially designed 4 hour module. At the National Road
Safety week 2015, also in association with Delhi Traffic police, Honda had empowered more than 2000
women on 2 wheeler riding at its traffic parks in Roshanara Bagh and Baba Kharak Singh Marg in New
Delhi.
Today, Honda has a dedicated corporate team that steers the Road-Safety promotion activities for the
company at all dealerships. This team imparts training to develop Safety Riding Advisors who in turn
provide Pre-delivery Safety Advice (PDSA) to customers and imbibe safe-riding habits amongst two-
wheeler riders. Additionally, Honda has also adopted seven Traffic Training Parks – 2 in Delhi; one each
in Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Yeola, and the latest one in Chandigarh.
