    • 1. Becoming a Trainer /Teacher
    • 2. Initial Teacher TrainingProgrammesFurther Education Teachers with Qualified TeacherLearning and Skills (QTLS) status are nowrecognised as qualified to teach in schools. This willallow them to be appointed to permanent posts inState Maintained Schools in England and they willbe paid on the Qualified Teachers’ Pay Scale.
    • 3. Initial Teacher TrainingProgrammes The Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong learning Sector (DTLLS) isdesigned for those already in a full teaching role or intending to enter theprofession so they can achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). The qualification is appropriate for teachers, tutors, and trainers who maybe working within a School, Academy or Sixth Form College or in theIndependent Sector and Free Schools or an FE College, Adult andCommunity Learning Centre, Learning Provider and for those deliveringwork based training e.g. within voluntary, community and private and publicorganisations.
    • 4. The course has the followingcomponents:• Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teachin the Lifelong Learning Sector(PTLLS)• Level 4 Certificate in Teaching in theLifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS)• Level 5 Diploma in Teaching in theLifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS)
    • 5. Preparing to Teach in the LifelongLearning Sector (PTLLS)An Award in Preparing to Teach in the LifelongLearning Sector provides an introduction to teachingand training adults. It is an essential first step towardspractitioner status - a licence to teach in theLifelong Learning Sector (England), as well as beingrelevant to other countries.
    • 6. Certificate in Preparing to Teach inthe Lifelong Learning Sector(CTLLS)This qualification will prepare you for a successfulcareer as an associate teacher in your chosensubject within further education, and will help youprogress as a teacher. The Level 4 qualification isa legal requirement for Further Education (FE)teachers in England.
    • 7. Diploma in Teaching in the LifelongLearning Sector (DTLLS)The aim of the diploma is to provide candidates infull teaching role with the underpinningknowledge, understanding and skills needed toeffectively fulfil their teaching role and to claimQualified Teacher Status (QTS).
    • 8. Who is it for? The Level 5 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS) is forPre-service or In-service Teachers, and is aimed at candidates who: are deemed to be in a Full Teaching role or would like or require a full Level 5 qualification allowing them to Teach or are seeking career progression within their area of work and have access to a minimum 100 teaching practice hours (whether pre -service orin -service) teach on both a one-to-one and group basis for a variety of learners, across arange of levels.
    • 9. How we deliverour training You are allocated a mentor who will support you throughout thecourse and be available to answer any questions. The course is delivered through face to face and alsocoursework consisting of reading, questions, assignments andactivities. Each module is covering a different aspect of the course andincludes activities. At the end of each unit there are specified assignments tocomplete, which are marked and internally moderated. You will also need to keep a Reflective Amount / Log of 100hours teaching, 8 of which will be observed in your workplace. There is also a micro teach to attend, these are held locallythroughout the UK.
