  1. 1. A Social Media Apprentice: Delivering ROI on Social Media
  2. 2. Social Media is marketing for your business. In all other areas of your marketing you want a return. Social media should be no different! So how can you get ROI on social media? Before we talk about who will run the social media for your business, you need to be clear on what it is they will be doing, to what end and where they will be operating. Want Return on Investment from Social Media? - Use a Social Media Apprentice
  3. 3. Some General Social Media Advice Have a social media plan: Social media is like any other part of your marketing. You would expect a plan which shows the benefits your business will get from the time and money invested in the activity. Have goals for social media: What is it you want to achieve? - More customers, more sales, increased awareness, improved customer understanding. All of these areas are good goals but you need to be clear which one(s) you are working towards and how you are measuring them.
  4. 4. Choose the right social media mediums for you: Don’t just be on every social media channel because others are. Where are your customers? Where will they be looking for information? Have a content strategy: You need to clearly define what you are going to be saying on social media. This will depend on your customers and your business, but being clear on what you will talk about is key. Things you might specify are that you will provide interesting content (vital!), you will run competitions, you will post information about new products, and you will be social (chat about the weather) etc, etc ... 5. 5. Once you have defined these things, then you can think about who will deliver it for you. In short, in order to get ROI on your social media, you need to know what it will cost to deliver it. In Pathway group’s experience, the best way to deliver Social media is by using someone working within the business instead of an outside company. They understand your business, they know what is going on, on a day to day basis and can translate this to effective social media, based on the points above. Delivering Social Media!
  6. 6. The Ideal Fit for this Role is the Social Media Apprentice - Why? 1. Employing a social media apprentice can cost just £2.68 per hour in the first year and grants of up to £1,500 are available for first time recruiters. 2. As social media is unlikely to be their only role, you gain increased capacity in other areas, in a cost-effective way. 3. The social media apprentice really starts understanding the company, its people and what it does. It’s an excellent induction process.
  7. 7. The Ideal Fit for this Role is the Social Media Apprentice - Why? 4. You do not incur the cost of seeing another member of your teams role suffer. 5. You do not need to pay an expensive agency to post on your behalf – this can cost thousands of pounds per month. (They can help with strategy). 6. You bring in a young, enthusiastic and technology savvy team member of the team. So if you want ROI on social media, create a plan, understand what you are trying to achieve and bring a Social Media Apprentice on board to deliver it.
