3. 3. Summary

Psychiatrists are the mental health doctors related to psychologists. They usually deal with patients with mental health problems such as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Schizophrenia, and other issues as well. They address the psychological issues they are faced with, with therapy, medications, hospitalizations, etc. The therapy psychiatrists deal with is known as psychotherapy in which the doctor talks a lot with the patient and family about what is going on, on a regular basis. The doctor will then diagnose the issue and prescribe the specific medication in order to maintain a healthy and stable living. There are some cases where only therapy is needed and medication isn’t necessary. Psychiatrists usually work in a hospital and run many tests to analyze how to deal with each patient, as each patient has different needs and different levels of disorders. They must correspond with other doctors involved with the patient such as psychologists, therapists, etc.
